Climbing Merlot 2010

Merlot is a sometimes over-looked red grape variety but it holds amazing potential when grown in the right region and handled carefully by a talented winemaker. This wine, from Orange NSW, is full of the red berry and plum fruits that good Merlot possesses, and with a delicious leafy herbaceous edge.

Debbie Lauritz of Cumulus Estate Wines and Francisco Antunes from Portugal have handcrafted the Luna Rosa – a combination of 40% Cabernet, 20% Grenache and 20% Mourvedre with a touch Orange Chardonnay. Each parcel of fruit for this rose was picked under the cool light of the moon, hence the name ‘Luna Rosa’.
