2001 Seppelt Chalambar Shiraz

The 2001 Seppelt Chalambar Shiraz is one of the red wine bargains of the year. It is honestly superior to many wines that cost twice as much and I highly recommend the purchase of a few bottles for the cellar.
Full bodied in nature, it is richly flavoured without being overly fruity. The savoury edge to the palate is its most appealing virtue – along with the solid core of black pepper and spice. The overtones of red roses and violets make it an incredibly stylish drink. The tannins are ripe and plentiful. It will be at its best after a few years in the cellar.
This wine is an example of the new style of Australian Shiraz. Opulent, yet not over ripe. Savoury undertones and a fine structure. Ageing potential.
