2003 Peerick Vineyard Viognier
Pyrenees

This month, I want to highlight the merits of a Viognier produced by a very small winery in the Pyrenees region of Victoria. With only six hectares under vine, Peerick Vineyard is most certainly a boutique operation and the quality of their wines is impressive.
I particularly enjoyed their 2003 Viognier due to its freshness and balance. The nose is heady and fragrant with fresh apricot, spice and exotic fruits. Refreshingly clean and vibrant is the palate, with a lemony freshness and integrated alcohol. Unlike many Viogniers, it has elegance and purity and it does not fatigue your palate after one glass. Please enjoy this wine young, to capture its vibrancy and its freshness.
