NV Grant Burge Pinot Noir Chardonnay Sparkling
Barossa, South Australia

Grant Burge Non Vintage Sparkling is a great alternative to the French stuff. It is made using the same techniques (Methode Traditionelle) and has many of the characters of a well made brand of Non Vintage Champagne. The classic Champagne grapes , Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, are grown in the cool Eden Valley and Adelaide Hills. These are then hand picked as they reach that teetering edge of ripeness while still retaining the natural level of acidity needed for fine sparkling.
The sparkling has a fine persistent bead of bubbles and aromas of lemon, light nutty bread and some red apple. Being a brut, it is dry but has lots of flavour and complexity supported by the refreshingly crisp acid, a generous body plus a lingering length.
The blend has spent over 2 years fermenting in the bottle, which has left delightful baked apples, citrus, stonefruit and brioche flavours with just a touch of lean minerality and nuttiness.
It is all that you can ask for in a good fizz – crisp and refreshing yet still has that characteristic creamy texture. Drink it lightly chilled with some fresh seafood canape’s in a crisp pastry shell.
