2010 Belgravia Riesling

In the shivery depths of Winter, it is often tempting to head straight for the heavy reds but a lightly chilled wine such as this proves that white wine is not just for the warmer months. There is still plenty of pleasure to be found in the perfumed depths of a white wine.
Belgravia is one of the delights from the Orange wine region and having vineyards up to a 710 metres surely qualifies it as one of Australia’s chilled lofty delights. This Riesling is but one of Belgravia’s aromatic whites that have been gaining their rightful share of limelight. They also produce acclaimed Pinot Gris and Gewurztraminer among their extensive portfolio of elegant cool climate reds gracefully poised whites.
There is plenty of classic Riesling lemon and lime to be found here, complimented with some spicy floral aromas and some zesty peel in the mouth. Riesling is all about refreshment and intensity and Belgravia delivers enough naturally balanced acid and satisfying weight of fruit to liven the senses of even the most world weary of us – certainly no mean feat some days.
This is a Riesling that really blossoms with food but is a pleasure to be shared with friends. I can personally recommend drinking it young with Fennel soup topped with chives and with just a hint of lemon.
